The easiest way to convince yourself of the importance of extended keywording is to put yourself in the shoes of a photobuyer who is looking for, “adult woman tennis player amateur distraught exhausted” for a coffee table book on senior tennis players. If you have such a photo and haven’t keyworded that photo (metadata), then, well, you’ve lost a sale and possibly lost the chance for a new contact for your buyer database.

I have bought images from Dreamstime myself, but I've never really looked at the advance search options. I just had a look now, there are quite a few options to choose from. Certainly useful for buyers, particularly the Model properties section. Also in the Image properties section you can even choose to search for images by what primary and secondary colours you want and at what percentage. Kind of makes the term 'Advanced search' sound like an understatement. :-)

Good points on keywording. I too initially resisted using plural when only one item was in the image, but all too often I find some I accidentally did this on ended up with a sale. I've started including 'textures' for texture images simply because people search on it. I only sell on one site, so it is a bit easier to optimize for their engine...

On Dreamstime there are nice search features like being able to choose the number of models, but I question how many buyers bother. I can see a lot of buyers using the plural when searching just becuase that is how we talk in English (I need images of 'apples'). Not sure how that works out in other languages.
