Garbage men in Hamburg, Germany have turned 1100 litre garbage containers into pinhole cameras. The project is called the Trashcam Project. This is a great idea, but they should have kept it quiet because now their boss will know what they’re doing 😉
Below is Garbage man Hans-Dieter Braatz taking a photo with one of the pinhole Dumpster cameras. It takes around 2 minutes for framing a shot and exposure can take up to an hour. The photo below is taken by Mirko Derpmann, with a normal camera 🙂
Below is a self portrait of Garbageman Roland Wilhelm standing with his trashcam, shot with a second trashcam. The camera is loaded with a 106×80 cm sheet of Ilford multigrade, and luckily for him (seeing as he has to stand completely still)Â the exposure for this shot was only six minutes.
